With the assistance of long-time Canton residents Laura and Jim Kosteva, the Canton Trail Fund is deed to provide grants to Canton Township for the building and maintaining of public bike and walking trails within the township of Canton. If you would like to make a tax deductible contribution to future trail projects, please consider the Canton Trail Fund.

The intention of the fund is to be a supplement to existing and proposed future trail improvement, maintenance, expansion and capital construction activities of the Charter Township of Canton. Learn More.

Take part in Canton's Annual River Day to learn more about the natural habitats in our region and help clean up the local watershed. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring gardening tools from home make sure they are labeled with your name and address.

Canton's trail system continues to expand annually through the help of partnerships and grants. There are several parking options available, please reference the map for the options closest to you.

River activities will include learning about the environment, especially healthy rivers, trail clean-up, removing invasive species, trail hikes, and birdhouse building. Visitors will be able to make a personal connection with nature through walking, running, mountain biking, cross country skiing, and wildlife watching.

There are many ways that you can help to support the trail and pathway system throughout Canton and the Southeast Michigan Region. Access to the existing trail network can be obtained via several locations throughout Canton. Volunteers should come dressed for the weather; jeans and boots are recommended.

This special event will include: self-guided hiking along the beautiful Lower Rouge River, educational displays and presentations by the Friends of the Rouge, 'Leave No Trace' principles stations, recycling information, trail biking and running info and a 'Make-It-Yourself' Trail-Mix station.
