Bremerton police first started investigating the November case when an injured man flagged down an officer.

Branndi McCarter, 39, who also uses the last name Chipman, pleaded not guilty last week in Kitsap County Superior Court to charges from the November incident, where she is accused of beating the man with a distinctive club. The woman said her son was under 18 and he could go to jail for soliciting a minor.
McCarter is also awaiting trial in Kitsap County Superior Court on a separate case of second-degree assault, where she is accused of hitting a woman in the head with a club during a March road rage incident. McCarter is charged as an accomplice in three crimes: second-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment and theft of a firearm.
Investigators identified McCarter and her son through juvenile court records and went to their University Place residence, where the teen denied being involved. Shortly after he arrived, they started having sex and then, not long after that, the man said somebody started banging on his door.

However, in a conversation with McCarter, investigators wrote that the woman appeared to know the age of the victim, 30, and said her son would have been 15 at the time. The three began beating the victim, he told police.
A University Place woman is accused of following her teenage son to a date with a Bremerton man at which time the mother and son — and another man — beat the victim, demanded money, ransacked his house and stole his gun. He had suffered a broken arm and wounds to his head from being pistol-whipped. He answered the door and a woman and another man barged into his house.
